Lent-Easter-Eastertide

Children will experience Jesus’ last week before his death through the eyes of the disciples. The familiar story of Palm Sunday is followed by Jesus washing the disciples’ feet, and his last meal with them. His crucifixion is another “dark box” story representing the hardest day in the world and the impact of sin on Jesus. The Resurrection story follows.

Children then meet the Emmaus Road disciples and Thomas, reminding us that Jesus’ resurrection was unexpected by those who knew him well. The unit concludes with Jesus ascending to heaven and Pentecost, the church's birthday.

Children playing with wooden figurines arranged in a circle on a carpet. The figurines are surrounding a small table with miniature food items and a decorative rug. A child is reaching out to move one of the figurines.
